We had planned to get Episode #8 up early this week, and clearly that has not happened. At this point, we’re just going to post it on Friday with our sincere apologies for the wait.
The main reason for the delay is that, quite honestly, we’re still learning how to mic everyone properly. Here’s a pro tip: You generally want a host’s mic to pick up as little of the other hosts as possible. Otherwise, you will get a stadium like echo or robot-like flanging sound that takes a little over 1.3 minutes to grate on your last nerve. The technical term for this is ‘cross talk’.
In that scenario, you have to edit the audio by cutting out the other mic recordings when one person is talking which is VERY time and energy consuming. And don’t even ask about what to do when more then one host is talking at one time.
While at Treklanta we did a recording with a better mic setup, and I’m certain we shouldn’t have this particular problem going forward.
